The end of planet earths life

Welcome back to our blog. Here comes Rod and Gertrude again. Their with another friend.
Rod: I believe that the world will end with a fiery explosion of the sun, following afterwards with a black hole.
Gertrude: I believe that the sun will just go out.
Bob: I believe in 2012.
Rod and Gertrude: Really?!
Bob: Yes, I think the world will end in 2012. There will be a whole lot of random destructive occurrences.
Rod: Really? because I've done some research and I found out that sometimes when a star gets big enough then it will turn into a supernova at the end of it's life and then turn into a black hole.
Gertrude: That does happen sometimes... but our sun is to small and will first turn into a red giant, then a white dwarf, then a black dwarf where it will have died out.
Rod and Bob: Looks like your right.
